Celebrating the HSE Class of 2026

Jul 14, 2026 | Adult Education, Beverly Bootstraps

On June 25, Beverly Bootstraps’ Adult Education program celebrated the accomplishments of 17 High School Equivalency (HSE) graduates during a commencement ceremony at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Beverly. The graduating class was surrounded by a record number of family, friends, volunteers, and supporters as they celebrated an important step on their journey toward brighter futures.

The achievements of these graduates were remarkable. Ten completed all five High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) exams in less than a year, while two former students returned this spring to pass their final exam and earn their diplomas in under two months. One student achieved this milestone at just 16 years old.

Among the graduates was an inspiring mother and daughter who graduated together after encouraging one another throughout their educational journeys. We also celebrated a student who has already begun taking IT courses at North Shore Community College, highlighting how earning a diploma can open the door to new educational and career opportunities.

These students demonstrated incredible perseverance, with the majority balancing work, caring for their families, and studying while also taking time to meet their tutors. Despite these demands, more than 80% of this year’s graduates passed their HiSET exams on their first attempt.

None of these achievements happened alone. Behind every graduate was a dedicated volunteer tutor providing encouragement, guidance, and unwavering support. By working alongside students every step of the way, they play an invaluable role in each graduate’s success.

As they begin their next chapter, several graduates are already working with our College & Career Readiness program to continue their education or pursue new career opportunities. Your commitment helps make stories like these possible. Because of you, more adults are earning diplomas, pursuing college, and opening doors to brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Congratulations to the HSE Class of 2026! We are proud of all you have accomplished and wish you continued success wherever your next chapter leads.
